This lecture allows the participant an understanding of the predisposing factors, diagnosis and treatment options for ocular surface diseases and in particular dry eye disease. Dry eye disease is the common medical condition optometry faces so it is important to stay informed of the latest diagnostic tests and treatment options to successfully manage these patients. 

Objectives: 
1. To allow the participant an overview of the pathogenesis of dry eye 
2. To interpret the key predisposing factors or risk factors associated with dry eye disease 
3. To know the signs, symptoms, diagnostic testing involved in dry eye management 
4. To develop of regimen for effective ocular surface disease management including lid disease and control of inflammation in dry eye disease 
5. To gain the ability to interpret potential systemic conditions, such as Sjogren’s, Rosacea and Arthritis, as well as pathology related to ocular surface inflammatory diseases 
6. To learn of the latest developments in the treatment of ocular surface disease
