Amblyopia

What is it?
Distant and near objects are not seen clearly - often in one eye only and it may be present from birth or very early in life. Amblyopia can cause large differences in the focusing ability of one eye compared to the other eye.

Treatment and Management
Your optometrist may recommend eyeglasses, contact lenses and the use of a patch over the "good" eye to stimulate the "poor" eye. Early diagnosis is important, as therapies are less effective after the age of 9 years.
