At Home and at Play
One of the most common places for eye injury is in and around the home for adults and children alike. Prevention is the key to protecting your eyes. Have your children learn about eye safety. Below are some common sense reminders that you can review and share with your family:
Sunglasses and UV Rays
- Wear UV rated sunglasses
- Keep glasses clean and scratch-free
Household Products and Cleaners
- Read product labels carefully before using
- Check first aid guidelines in case product gets into your eyes.
- Should a hazardous product enter the eye, follow recommended procedure and call your optometrist immediately for help
Gardening & Outdoor Work
- Wear protective goggles when working with chemicals and/or gardening equipment
Children's Toys
- Inspect children's toys regularly.
- Remove any toys with sharp, pointed ends from very young children
- Remind children regularly about how to play safe techniques
