Outreach & Education
Whether you are a student looking for information about a career in optometry or a teacher looking for resources in teaching children with visual challenges the OAO is there to help you.
For students interested in optometry we work closely with student groups, the College of Optometry of Ontario and many educational institutions to provide mentorship, resources, information nights and guest lecturers. Our Board of Directors and volunteer members are active in reaching out to optometry students and in working with high school students and younger students in understanding how optometrists help, what career options are available and what eye and vision issues should be top of mind.
For teachers we can provide a variety of educational information that will help students understand the eye, eye and vision care, help parents find optometrists and other eye care professionals. We can also provide contact points and resources that will help you teach students with vision challenges and visual learning disabilities.
