2018 Board of Directors Election
OAO is the voluntary professional organization, representing more than 1,600 registered optometrists in Ontario. OAO is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which plays an important role in shaping the future of the profession through advocacy, strategic planning and overseeing the delivery of education, services and programs. With the help of the Board, staff and volunteers, OAO strives to position Ontario optometrists as a primary source for all eye health, vision care and eyewear related needs.
To align its election process to the statutes and regulations of the Corporations Act, and to regulatory changes being implemented in advance of the new Ontario Not-For-Profit Corporations Act, OAO is calling on its members to elect all 12 Directors for the term of office as set out in its new Bylaws, which were passed by the current Board of Directors on Feb. 5, 2018, and will be presented to be confirmed by the membership at the Annual General Meeting on April 15, 2018.
OAO is looking to fill all 12 positions on the Board of Directors. Term will be determined based on the number of votes received by each nominee, and will be no more than three years and no less than one year. Directors so elected will take office on May 1, 2018.
Member optometrists throughout the province are encouraged to run for the position of Director. This is your opportunity to help shape the future vision for the profession while strengthening the collective voice of optometry.
