Hi, I am a 40 year old man. On May 25, 2018, I did laser eye correction and as a result had blurry vision and been seeing double. I use artificial tear drops but am still waiting for my vision to get better. What should I do in the meantime as I feel uncomfortable?

If you were referred for LASIK by your optometrist, then she/he should be able to communicate with your surgeon about your results and be able to provide more input as to whether your symptoms are expected.
Blurring of near point vision (arm’s length and closer) can occur post-LASIK in patients who were previously myopic (nearsighted).  The blurring or double images you are experiencing may also be due to dry eye disease or poor eye muscle coordination.

I would advise consulting both your LASIK surgeon and your optometrist given the duration of your symptoms and lack of resolution. The surgeon will be able to provide you with more information regarding your procedure and your optometrist will be able to perform a comprehensive eye exam to determine the cause of the problem.

If you don’t have an optometrist, you can use OAO’s find-a-doctor tool to locate one near you.

All the best,

Dr. Richard Maharaj, OD
