Dr. Kashif Baig


Dr. Kashif Baig is an internationally recognized Cornea, Anterior Segment, Cataract, and Refractive Surgeon. Dr. Baig is the Medical Director at Herzig Eye Institute Ottawa, and a provider of tertiary-level care at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute. Dr. Baig is also the Founder and Medical Director of Precision Cornea Centre, and currently serves as the President of the Canadian Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery Society, and the Executive Director of the Sally Letson Foundation. Dr. Baig is an Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa, Pediatric Cornea Consultant at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Clinical Investigator in Regenerative Medicine at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, and Director of Clinical and Research Fellowships in Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery.

Managing Cataract Patients with Difficult Corneas

The presentation will be a discussion of performing cataract surgery in patients with corneal issues such as keratoconus, dystrophies, dry eye syndrome, laser vision correction, radial keratotomy, nodules, scars, pterygia, etc. Diagnostic imaging and intraoperative technologies to manage these challenging patients will be discussed. Pre-operative and post-operative implications for optometrists on managing these cases will be presented.
